Drainage Model This gravity network model calculates flows from urban, rural and undeveloped area runoff by using several types and combinations of analytic methods:
- Illinois Urban Drainage Area Simulator, ILLUDAS
- rural drainage simulation using U.S. Soil Conservation Service (SCS) curve number method
- Rational method
- pipes/channels, manholes/nodes entered in any order
- manhole alphanumeric identifiers, coordinates, invert elevations, ground elevations, head losses
- pipe connections, lengths, grades, diameters, shapes, sizes, Manning's n roughness coefficients
- time lag or storage routing using an implicit method
- fixed length option for curved or irregular alignments
- link models using output and input hydrographs
- zoned contributing areas with soil types
- times of concentration either input or calculated using Kerby, Izzard or ILLUDAS formulae
- reservoir rating curves, detention storage
- flow limiting, rainfall variation, base flows
- starting hydraulic grade elevation
- antecedent moisture condition, depression storage
- routing using the modified Puls method in the network or the simple method or the Muskingum method as tools
- metric, Imperial or U.S. units of measurement
Loads
- rainstorms recorded or generated from rainfall distribution or intensity-duration frequency curves
- recorded or calculated hydrographs
- zoning definitions with paved, supplemental paved, grassed and SCS method (soil types vs curve numbers) percentages of area
- rainfall intensity and zoning definitions for runoff coefficients when using the Rational method
Results
- existing and required pipe capacities
- required pipe diameters, detention storage
- full pipe and peak flow velocities
- part flow as remaining capacity, peak flow/capacity or depth/diameter
- hydraulic grades for surcharging pipes
- summary totals for areas and uses
- list of under capacity pipes
- totals of pipe lengths by diameter
- rainfall total, highest intensity, highest amount for a specified time period
- hydrograph total volume, peak flow, highest volume for a specified time period

Pipe Inventory Management
As a maintenance management tool, your manhole and pipe inspection data may be recorded and color-coded to help you to prioritize the work of your infrastructure upgrading projects. If you have another GIS, comprehensive export utilities help you keep your system updated.
